Jet Cadets (Ages 7-12)
It's a bird! It's a plane! No, it's...everything from the earliest flying machines to the first rocket ships!. This hands-on program will let kids learn all about aerodynamics and the world above us. Campers explore the basic principles of flight, build airplanes, test them in wind tunnels, ride a hovercraft and construct balloon helicopters. Kids discover the mysteries of the galaxy, learn about celestial navigation, and take home a rocket that they've built themselves. We'll be moving at light speed throughout this high velocity week!
Junior Doctors (Ages 7-12)
In this week-long camp, children will have fun while learning about the scientific equipment they already own—the human body. Kids will explore the science behind cells, organs, muscles and bones through fun, hands-on activities. Campers will use micro-slide viewers to see some of the tiny cellular machines that keep our bodies working and will play the "Cell game" to learn about the "stuff" inside cells. Fun experiments will help campers understand more about their senses, brains, breathing, circulation and digestion. Children will create model cells, make Mad Mucus, a simulated stomach, build simple stethoscopes and lung models, assemble a model skeleton and much more.
Let’s Get Growing (Ages 4-6)
This camp offers preschool aged children an exciting introduction to environmental science. Each session is devoted to different aspects of the garden, allowing children to explore exciting topics like seeds, weather, and even bugs! A mural will grow throughout the week as children illustrate their latest discoveries.
Mad Machines & Jr. Engineers (Ages 7-12)
Whether your child loves to build things or destroy them, this week of camp includes lots of both! The junior Mad Science engineers will design and build bridges and "skyscrapers" using simple tools and their imaginations. Kids will even construct a geodesic dome big enough for all the campers to sit inside! Then the machine madness starts . . . Children will discover how many different machines, simple & complex, we use in our daily lives. Campers will have fun building their own catapults to take home and will design simple machines using pulleys, wedges, screws and levers. After the simple machines, we move on to fun with the Mad Science robots! We'll play robot soccer, test line-tracking robots, and help our team direct our sound activated robots around an obstacle course, all the while learning the science of robotics!
Mad Robots & Widgets (Ages 8-12)
Have your children join us for a week of fun with amazing robots! In this full week of half-days, campers learn about the uses of robots in our world and spend time experimenting with super cool robots. Your young robotic engineers will experiment with sound sensing robots, line-tracking robots, amphibious robots and robots that can even play soccer! Kids discover the science of circuits and how robots use sensors to explore things around them. They even get to use their skills to build their very own working robot to take home!
My First Lab (Ages 4-6)
Become a junior Mad Scientist! This camp is a great introduction to science for young children. Preschoolers explore the states of matter, uncover the secrets that makes chemical reactions with household acids and bases, they build molecules, learn the science behind magic and optics, become paleontologists by searching for fossils, create their very own silly putty, and finally, take an exciting mission to explore the planets, moons and stars. Campers make and take home many science projects throughout the week!
NASA: Journey Into Outer Space (Ages 7-12)
Throughout the week, brave young astronauts will explore the mysteries of space while learning about the planets, stars and what it takes to get there! Children will discover not only how astronauts get into space, but also how they live and work once they're in orbit around the planet. They will learn about gravity, propulsion and the basics of rocket science through fun, hands-on activities. Children will come to understand that propulsive forces can come from many sources, will experiment with balloon rockets, and will make their own air rockets to take home. Most importantly, they will learn firsthand about the aerodynamic properties of flying machines by building their own Mad Science ® model rockets! Once the rockets are completed, children will blast off on a real Mad Science space mission with the grand finale, the rocket launch!
Radical Reactions & Detective Science (Ages 7-12)
Campers will have tons of fun mixing up potions and experimenting with all kinds of chemical reactions! Our young chemists will grow crystals, create sidewalk chalk, and even make chromatography T-Shirts to take home. Students will also become science sleuths as they investigate how chemistry provides evidence at the scene of a crime. During this hands-on detective work, children will gather & test “crime scene” clues, make & analyze their own fingerprints, and more!
Rockin’ Rockets (Ages 7-12)
This time, it is rocket science! In Rockin' Rockets, campers will be building their very own rocket! Your budding aerospace engineers will experiment with different kinds of propulsion systems as they use their new knowledge of flight mechanics to blast-off, track, and recover different kinds of rockets.
Science in Action (Ages 7-12)
Science is everywhere! Campers explore polymer chemistry by making slime and fun super science bouncy balls. Children investigate Newton’s Law of Motion in simple machines and discover how they make our lives easier. Discover FUN physics through sound waves, gravity, inertia, centripetal force, etc. Experiment with shapes and their strengths in superstructures and skyscrapers! Learn aerodynamics and stages of flight with rockets and flight demonstrations. This camp includes lots of hands-on, minds-on take home projects everyday too!
Spy Academy (Ages 7-12)
Look out 007-the Mad Science Spy Academy is here! From decoding cryptic messages, to metal detectors and night vision, campers will have the opportunity to check out spy equipment and even create their own edible secret message. As kids step into the shoes of a detective, they will uncover the forensic science involved in evidence gathering and analysis during a hands-on look at crime scenes. Campers quickly become Mad Science Super Spies and learn clever ways of performing tasks as we take a look through a magnifying glass at the science that spies use - you might even think that take-homes for this camp were designed specially by Q himself!
